How Dave prepared to run for the presidency

Calsabi4756pture

Since declaring my candidacy readers have been asking, “Dave…what do you have to do to run?” Fair question.

Start off by telling friends and family to test the waters. If they laugh ignore them until you find someone who doesn’t laugh. In my case I went from telling them to writing a newspaper column for all the world to see in a bold move that’ll be indicative of my presidency!

I’ve never held office. But that doesn’t bother me. History shows we’ve had five U.S. Presidents who were never elected to anything before seeking office. They are: William H. Taft, Zachary Taylor, Ulysses S. Grant, Herbert Hoover, and Ike Eisenhower.

You need to look good. Granted, that will be a challenge for me, but with the right hair/makeup person I should look passable enough to not break any camera lenses. The important thing is I know I need to look good on TV. The fact of the matter is Americans don’t want a homely president. Okay…but Bush was an exception! I’m very comfortable putting up my abundant real salt-and-pepper hair against other candidates – especially Donald Trump (with that trained ferret on his head)!

It’s important to plan a media strategy and to have people around you that can cover your ass when you say stupid things. How can we forget when George W. Bush (09/08/04) said, “Too many OB/GYN’s aren’t able to practice their love with women all across the country.” I’ve yet to unveil my media strategy in it’s entirety.

I’m just starting to look for a Field Team. What the hell is a Field Team you may wonder?

These are the annoying people who call your home or show up at your front door, and say "If the election were held today...". If you live in a swing state, they're even more annoying, and if you live in Iowa, you may have killed one of them in a previous election year.

I hope this summary gets you up to speed, as I’m moving slowly today. Vote Dave in 2012!
