Reader: “Without lobbyists and corporations backing you how do you expect to have enough money to wage a competitive campaign?”
Dave: “It’s really quite simple. All I have to do is make sure not to spend/raise more than $5,000. I’m sure I can do that.”
Reader: “I don’t get it.”
Dave: “I’m dodging all the bureaucracy by NOT registering with the FEC. As long as I don’t spend more than $5,000 I don’t even have to mess with those clowns. Pretty clever eh?”
Reader: “You can’t do that! Can you?”
Dave: “Absolutely. Ralph Nader made a point of not filing a statement of candidacy (by staying under $5,000) in the 1996 election. FYI - he came in fourth in the voting!”
