The mystery continues: who gave Mitt Romney so damn much money in secrecy?

UPDATE: SAT. AUG. 6th

The money man is Edward W. Conard…a really rich guy who hoped he wouldn’t have to reveal his gift to Romney.

“Campaign watchdog groups said Saturday that it unlikely that Conard ever would have come forward absent public pressure — or the threat of a Justice Department investigation — making it all the more important that there be greater public disclosure of contributions to so-called independent “super pacs” like Restore Our Future or non disclosing non-profit political groups.

“This case of the secret $1 million donor shows the extraordinary lengths that people are prepared to go to in order to hide their campaign contributions from the American people,” said Fred Wertheimer, president of Democracy 21, a longtime advocate for campaign reform.”

C’mon Mitt…come clean! Too late! Cats out of the bag.

“The apparent effort to keep secret the actual donor or donors of the $1 million may well be a violation of the campaign finance laws.”

The cops are going to be closing in soon Saved by the bell!

“Two campaign reform groups are asking the Justice Department to investigate a mysterious $1 million contribution to a political committee backing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney from an obscure company that shut down shortly after making the donation.”

The jig is up yesterday today Mitt ..

“The contribution to Restore Our Future, a so-called “super PAC” formed by three former Romney political aides, drew scrutiny following an NBC News report on Thursday .”

So who is closing in on you? Doesn’t matter now. But I’m watching you…

“Fred Wertheimer, the president of Democracy 21, an advocacy group for campaign reform,  said the contribution appeared to be “blatantly” designed to circumvent campaign disclosure laws. He said Democracy 21 and the Campaign Legal Center, another advocacy group that promotes greater transparency in election laws, will formally request an investigation into the donation on Friday.”

Okay Mitt, you’re going to slide by this time teflon-boy, but we all know you get a lot of special interest money. I wonder why Conrad tried to hide his donation to you? Hmmmmmm…
