A recent Gallup national tracking poll for the GOP nomination actually has Gingrich expanding his lead over Mitt Romney from 2% points (25% to 23%) to 6% points (27% to 21%.)
Much to the Republican establishment’s chagrin; actual GOP voters do not seem to be giving up on Newt Gingrich/Anti-Romney just yet.
Newt Gingrich 27%
Mitt Romney 21%
Ron Paul 12%
Rick Perry 7%
Michele Bachmann 6%
Rick Santorum 4%
Jon Huntsman 1%
Now all eyes are once again on Newt Gingrich, now the latest (and last?) rising GOP candidate to challenge Mitt. Rival Ron Paul, jealous of his popularity, attacks him as a hypocrite. So... has Gingrich been consistent, or has Newt evolved since he led the 1994 Republican revolution in Congress?
