Newt is pissing off a lot of people but leads in latest poll

Pundits have been quick to write off Newt Gingrich’s chances after his fast rise in the polls (everywhere) and now his quick drop in the polls in Iowa (and elsewhere to a lesser extent.)

But yesterday’s Gallup national tracking poll for the GOP nomination actually has Gingrich expanding his lead over Mitt Romney from 2% points (25% to 23%) to 6% points (27% to 21%.)

The Republican establishment is pissed off at Newt, (they’ve resigned themselves to promoting Romney) but the actual GOP voters do not seem to be giving up on him yet.

When a gay Iowa man asked Newt Gingrich why gay people should support him, Gingrich’s response was that he should support President Obama instead. Read the full story here.

Perhaps all gay people (along with all straight people who believe in equal rights for everyone) should take Gingrich’s advice.
