Standing up for women’s health care does not make you a ‘slut’ or a prostitute

I don’t know what’s gotten into the Republican Party lately, but I suspect they’ve been drinking a little too much of their extreme tea and have lost touch with reality!

What’s with the War on Women? Senator “Watch me pull a Stunt” Blunt lost his bid to take women’s rights away by pushing for insurance companies not to cover contraception yesterday, but the assault on women’s bodies is not over.

Who else but Mr. Hypocrisy, aka Rush Limbaugh, would cross the line when it comes to recent issues? His latest rant was about insurers covering women’s health needs.

Who else would be so vile as to personally insult a woman (Slut is not a nice thing to call a woman) because of her testimony to Congress?

“She courageously spoke truth to power. As a result, today, she has been subject to attacks that are outside the circle of civilized discussion and that unmask the strong disrespect for women held by some in this country,” read a joint statement by the lawmakers that did not identify Limbaugh by name. “We call upon the Republican leaders in the House to condemn these vicious attacks on Ms. Fluke.” (source)

Update:Rush Limbaugh in hot water with sponsors after 'slut' remark  Companies pulling ads in protest

Meanwhile, I haven’t heard a peep from within the halls of congress. Not one of the Republican lawmakers who slavishly follow Limbaugh and his insane rants said a word about Rush going overboard.

Like good little party members, they smiled and shut up for once. No mean feat for any politician. Instead, those women-hating Repugs have been having a field day.

“I will buy all of the women at Georgetown University as much aspirin to put between their knees as they want,” Rush said, in a reference to remarks made by Rick Santorum backer Foster Friess, who said last month, “You know, back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraception. The gals put it between their knees, and it wasn’t that costly.” (source)

It’s bad enough that the GOPs hopes for a viable contender are evaporating faster than promises from a con man, but those Repugs have decided to go after women’s rights. It’s almost like watching political suicides as GOP pundits walk off cliffs with each new attack on women voters..….hmmmmmmm
