Place you bets: Predicting who’ll win the presidential horse race

Nate Silver over at Five Thirty Eight is now forecasting the presidential election and he currently has President Obama ahead of Mitt Romney by a 293 to 245 margin in the electoral college (and it’s 270 votes in the electoral college that wins the Presidency, not the popular vote.)

If you are a political horse-race addict I would recommend skipping over all of the myriad of polling that’s out there and let Silver crunch the numbers for you.

His track record proves that the guy knows what he’s doing. He has a dispassionate analytical approach that you can trust and he’s not there to spin a particular political reality (here’s looking at you Rasmussen…) but to give the most accurate picture possible from the data that’s available.
